Our jungle tour starts early in the morning at the town of Lago Agrio. You will meet us at Meeting Point Restaurant (before calling Blue Planet Hotel)
, in Lago Agrio at 8:00 AM. The meeting point is located at Desvio del Puente Rio Aguarico, Nueva Loja.. Our private bus will pick you up, followed by a 2 hour drive to the town of Tierras Orientales. Here, you will be provided with a nice Box lunch.
Here, your 7-day Amazon journey begins with a breath-taking 3,5 hour canoe ride to Waita Lodge. This is the perfect opportunity to spot many animals, such as pink dolphins, birds, and monkeys!
After arrival at Waita lodge, you will have time to unpack your things. After a delicious dinner, our local guide will give a briefing about the activities of the next days. Finally, our guide will take you on an exciting night walk to spot insects, spiders, boas, and other insect
Our day begins at 05:30 a.m. in the morning with an early activity. Before sunrise, we will enjoy the rainforest and its animal life. We will begin our journey in a motor canoe going downstream of the Cuyabeno river for 1,5 hours. This is a wonderful time to enjoy birdwatching. At special clay banks at 07:00 a.m. , parakeets and colourful parrots enjoy feeding on clay. In our canoe this is an exclusive thing to see!
After a delicious breakfast, the guide will take us on a 3-hour deep jungle walk. Here, he will share valuable knowledge and show you all you need to know about the Cuyabeno reserve. After this interesting walk, we will enjoy a nice lunch.
In the afternoon at 04:00 p.m. we will take our canoe, to visit the Bird Observation Tower. This amazing tower is built around one of the highest trees of the Cuyabeno. It’s 28 meters high so we can enjoy breath-taking canopy views and its wildlife.
We begin our day at 06:00 a.m. in the morning. We will enjoy the sunrise and with the canoe navigate through small lakes near the lodge. You will have the chance to observe a wide variety of birds and mammals. Then, we will return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast.
After breakfast, we will pack our gear and take our motorized canoe to reach the “Bocana”. This is the place where 2 rivers join. This is where we will once again see freshwater dolphins. We will then ride downstream for 2 hours to reach the mouth of the “Iripari” channel. Here, we will enjoy a Box lunch.
After lunch, we will take a short rainforest walk between lagoons. After enjoying beautiful landscapes, we will take the canoe to enjoy the sunset and we will take a nice swim in the lagoon. At dinner, our guide will share the activities of the next day.
At 06:00 a.m. we will take our motor canoe again to go birdwatching. We will visit the flooded forest dominated by a large number of palms. After having enjoyed beautiful landscapes, we will return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast.
After a short rest, we will grab our equipment and continue in our canoe towards the border between Ecuador and Peru. We will explore the rainforest and its lagoons. This is followed by a journey up the river of Lagartococha to see more monkeys, dolphins, and birds. We will then enjoy lunch and a swim.
After a refreshing swim, we will set up camp for the next 2 days. After set-up and dinner, our guide will explain more about the Cuyabeno reserve and will invite you to search for caimans!
This morning, we will enjoy a canoe trip to the lagoon of “Dolphin Cocha”. This is a special lagoon named after the high percentage of pink dolphins that live here. Here, you can also enjoy a swim with them! Later, we will head back to camp to enjoy breakfast.
After a rest, we will take a short walk in the Terra Firme forest to meet a small group of indigenous people: the Secoya. Here, you will get a taste of what it’s like to live in the secluded jungle. Here, we will have a Box lunch.
In the afternoon we will continue our journey by taking the motor canoe to visit small black water pipes. This spectacular ecosystem is home to unique species of birds and mammals. Here, we can take another refreshing dip in the lagoon.
When night begins to fall, we will head back to camp. On our trip back, keep you eyes open for caimans, fishing bats, tree boas, and birds! After dinner, the guide will take us on another thrilling night walk!
At 06:00 a.m. in the morning, our guide will take us on a brief excursion. This can be either in the canoe or a walk into the rainforest. After enjoying this spectacular morning, we will return to camp for breakfast.
Then, we grab our gear and make our way back to Waita Lodge. Along the way, we will make some stops to enjoy lunch, a swim, and we will visit different communities of the Cuyabeno reserve. Here, you will be able to purchase some handicrafts.
After arrival at the lodge, we can enjoy a shower and rest. After a delicious dinner, we will make a checklist of all the animals we’ve observed.
On the last day of our 7-day tour, we will have our last early activity to enjoy the Cuyabeno. Our guide will take you on a brief excursion into the forest or by canoe to enjoy the awakening of nature.
After breakfast, you must prepare your luggage for the return trip. Luckily, there is another 3,5 hour canoe trip back to the town of Tierras Orientales. This will be a nice moment to take the last memory of this wonderful place.
Once we reach the town, our private transport will take you back to Lago Agrio. This will be the end of your jungle tour. Arriving at 04:00 p.m., here you can either take a bus or plane back to Quito.

Option 1: Quito to Lago Agrio Shuttle Service (Meeting Point)
Our shuttle service departs from designated locations in Quito at scheduled times throughout the week, taking you directly to our new meeting location, Meeting Point Restaurant (formerly known as Blue Planet Hotel) in Lago Agrio. The shuttle arrives at 8:00 AM, and the restaurant is located at Desvio del Puente Rio Aguarico, Nueva Loja. The shuttle service costs $20 USD per person. Please note that pickup times may vary depending on the number of tourists arriving from different locations.
Keep in mind that there is no ATM available at Meeting Point Restaurant, so please bring sufficient cash. A taxi from the Lago Agrio terminal to Meeting Point Restaurant costs around $4 USD.
Option 2: Quito Terminal to Lago Agrio via Public Bus
For travelers looking for more flexibility, public buses depart daily from Quito’s Quitumbe and Carcelén Terminals. The bus fare to Lago Agrio is $17.00 USD, with drop-off at the Lago Agrio terminal. From there, you can take a taxi to Meeting Point Restaurant for approximately $4 USD.
Option 3: Exclusive transfer
For a more expedient and comfortable travel, think about hiring private transportation. The location, size of your group, and kind of vehicle all affect the price. We will be pleased to help you set up private transportation that suits your needs.
TO COCA AIRPORT BY AIRPLANE
LATAM provides daily flights from Quito to Coca; the flight that fits in with our schedule departs at 9:00 AM. Upon arrival in Coca, we will arrange for transportation for an additional fee of $120 (for one to four people). From there, you will drive 2.5 hours to Tierras Orientales where you will meet up with the rest of the group and continue your journey by canoe to our lodge.
The airline only offers a flight back to Quito at 10:00, so you will need to stay an extra night in Coca to catch the flight the following morning. Our staff can assist you in making appropriate accommodations while you wait for your trip
