With an early activity, our day begins at 05:30 a.m. in the morning. Before sunrise, we will enjoy the rainforest and its animal life. We will begin our journey in a motor canoe going down the Cuyabeno river for 1,5 hours. This is a perfect time to enjoy birdwatching. At special clay banks at 07:00 a.m. , parakeets and colourful parrots enjoy feeding on clay. In our canoe this is an exclusive thing to see!
After breakfast, we will take the motorized canoe to the Bocana. This is the place where 2 rivers meet. The contrast provides the perfect environment to spot dolphins and enjoy stunning views.
We will then continue on for another 2 hours to reach the Iripari channel. Here, you will be provided with a Box lunch. After lunch, we will enjoy a short and informative walk between lagoons. After this walk, our local guide will navigate the canoe around the lagoon. This beautiful landscape is the perfect scenery to take a refreshing swim. We will then head back to Waita Lodge.
This morning activity starts at 06:00 a.m. in the morning. This is the best time to do birdwatching. We will take our motorized canoe to enjoy the sunrise, beautiful landscapes, and animal spotting. We will pass through small lakes of the Cuyabeno jungle before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
After some rest in the hammock, the guide will take us on a 3-hour deep jungle walk. The guide will explain and share a lot of knowledge about the Cuyabeno rainforest. You will learn wisdom passed on from generations who lived in this jungle! After this interesting walk, we will return to our lodges for lunch.
At 04:00 p.m. in the afternoon, we will take the motor canoe to navigate through small black water pipes. These form a spectacular ecosystem where we can spot diverse wildlife. When night begins to fall, we will make our way back to Waita lodge. We will venture downstream in search of caimans, fishing bats, tree boas, and nocturnal birds.
After a delicious dinner, our guide will invite you to take an exciting night walk. We will search for insects, snakes, and spiders!
After an early breakfast at 07:00 a.m., we will take our motorized canoe to add more animals to our “jungle check list”. We will row down the narrow white-water river, home to uncommon species, and will try to spot different species of animals.
A long and exciting canoe ride awaits us. The first part of the river we will navigate is very narrow and will give us a fun experience as we maneuver through. We will then ride for 1,5 hours to the border of Ecuador and Peru, where a large expanse of flooded forest is located. Then, a 2 hours upstream journey will allow us to spot monkeys, pink fresh water dolphins, and more animals.
After a box lunch, you will have the opportunity to swim with the dolphins, enjoy a beautiful landscape, and we will meet an indigenous group called the “Secoya”.
Following the same route, we will return to Waita lodge at approximately 16h00. The rest of the night you will enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest.
At 06:00 a.m. in the morning, our local guide will invite you to take a short walk into the Terra Firme forest. Enjoy the enormous trees and density of the forest! Afterwards, have a nice breakfast.
After breakfast we will prepare our equipment to return to Waita Lodge. We will take the motorized canoe and make some stops along the way. You will have time to swim and will also be provided with a Box lunch.
We will then visit some of the communities to appreciate the difference between Amazonian groups. Here you will also be able to buy handicrafts. After a profitable trip, we will return to our lodge. Then, you will have the rest of the night to rest, shower, and dinner.
On our last day, we will take our last early activity. Our guide will take you on a brief excursion into the rainforest or in our canoe to enjoy the awakening of nature. Again, this is a wonderful time for birdwatching and enjoying the final day in the beautiful Cuyabeno rainforest.
After breakfast, you will prepare your luggage for the return trip. For the final moments, you will enjoy a 3,5 hour canoe ride back to Tierras Orientales. Here our private bus will take you back to Lago Agrio at 16h00. From here, you can go by plane or bus back to Quito.
